Deer Hunter/Member Feedback

Whitetail Deer hunting

His first season with MAHA, self guided Association hunter Klint H. from Colorado, sent us in this picture of what he was able to get done even after a late start.

Enjoy the deer hunt....

Above is Mike. He has had years of success and hunts for the fun of it. While all may seek a trophy it is far more the case those that enjoy the hunts the most enjoy it for the deer hunt experience itself whether a tag is filled or not.

Resources

What we provide the do it yourself deer hunter is the all important land resource, recommendations where to deer hunt to get him jump started and a lodging listing near our lease land. This leaves the hunter just to hunt. That alone may seem simple enough, however consider these points.

Deer hunts regardless of the quality of our recommendations of where to start the hunt, will always require the hunter put in scouting time. Doing so will gain him knowledge of and stands prepared on typically two to four farms he will want to hunt hard. [It has been for a long time that the stand hunter over the still hunter that has harvested the highest and most recurring trophy success.]

On return trips that same hunter will be disappointed by some of the farms he walks on and some will be better than he has seen before. Soon that hunter will have more knowledge of more farms that have success potential than he will have time to hunt. At this point that hunter may start to concentrate on matching the habitat, season of the rut and his deer hunting style to enhance success.

Deer hunting success is more on the out years than that first deer hunting season.

That same self guided deer hunter may return for years to come to the same previously hunted leases as well as explore new land to keep the cycle going. Doing so in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa makes for plenty of deer hunting opportunity.

That last part of scouting new trophy whitetail deer hunting land is no small point as the land itself does not remain the same. Farming practices shift, land gets sold or other impacts cause the deer hunter with several farms with developed stand locations never to be caught short of a well known deer hunting spot or several regardless of changes.

Do It Yourself Deer Hunting in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa for trophy and not so trophy whitetail deer.

Steve from Missouri who has a long string of deer hunting success transitions from mondern rifle to muzzleloader and settling on archery season.

Vickie from Texas with the largest rack yet harvested by any of our lady deer hunters, reportedly scored 172 gross.

A sampling of some of the pictures in our deer gallery. Each picture is sent in at the generosity and courtesy of our hunters as the Association staff is not at the point of harvest. To each we are grateful and hope for many more successful seasons to come.

Bernie from Pennsylvania who does no scouting and simply hunts. One of several he has tagged.

Lynn from Minnesota showing the northern state deer hunters do the best during the late season.

Congratulations to all!
