| Upland bird recommendation are not separated by state, they are offered in terms of bird of preference (quail or pheasant) and habitat of preference (tall grass, draws or crop fields). Recommendations are to units of lease land. A unit is a single maps sheet from our online library of leased land. A sample is shown below.
A hunter would reserve such a unit for one calendar day and pick and chose from all the highlighted leases which ones to hunt.
Each hunter or party of hunters may have several such units throughout his trip with smaller ones different each day and he may elect to remain with larger acreage units for more than one day. During the hunt each hunter may change his daily reservation or modify his trip plans to accommodate weather or personal preferences of where to hunt. The point to be understood is that the reservation system is not a restrictive measure as all hunters will be able to hunt on their schedule throughout the entire season. The reservation system by units is the means by which to manage hunter pressure.
Shown in the red boxes are the acreage per property. The hunter may select during his hunt which of the parcels on each map sheet or unit to hunt or pass on. Our telephone reservation system should not be seen as restrictive. It is the means by which we control upland bird hunter pressure ensuring we never have too many hunters in one spot at one time or too many consecutive hunter days within one unit. It is by this means we ensure as good of a hunt as possible to all thereby earning the hunter's membership renewal and continuation of our organization as a business and not a club. When it comes to upland bird hunting we have been in the bird hunting business since 1965 and the rules such as the above have been well tested and refined since 1965. Each bird hunter should trust their hunt quality interest is reflected in the rules. A quality upland hunt is the reason for why each hunter will return fro many more seasons of hunts to come.
