Hunts
Interests | Live pheasant pictures showing habitat are rare and always deserve a look. Such a picture during a Kansas winter shows doubly how ground snow accumulation is typically, usually not a hindrance to a hunt.
The text accompany these pictures taken by member Mike Sheffer: "Went on a two day pheasant hunt last Wed. and Thur. (Jan. 24 & 25) to [location deleted], Kansas. Saw a lot of birds; including the attached photos. Have had a tremendous year and do not want it to end. I may try to go once more before the 31st." These pictures and text tell a lot about the quality of wild upland bird hunts we provide, give evidence that quality hunting exists through the end of the season -- our winter weather does not stop the hunter.
Most have read about the "...smart, old, end of season roosters..." that are difficult to hunt. That myth has never stopped our hunters. The challenge again reverts to too many places to hunt. The late January season sees the upland bird hunter making a choice between Iowa quail and Kansas pheasant. Both seasons are open and both give good late season hunts. |
